Whisper IM provides end-to-end encryption over a XMPP/Jabber based network. All traffic between the client and the server is encrypted. The client encrypts messages, the server decrypts and vice versa. Whisper IM supports: * XMPP/Jabber, designed for IM and presence, with support for multiple back-end protocols * OpenPGP, for PGP encryption/decryption (currently requires OpenPGP-firmware * NickServ, for password protection * MUC, for defining your own rooms * IRC, for IM and presence between different clients * Identities, for automated authentication Whisper IM uses the same core encryption technology as Whisper: Twofish, so the core encryption is built in and requires no external libraries/implementations. All that is needed is a client side library that implements the Whisper protocol, commonly called a “Whisper client”. That’s where Whisper IM comes in; it’s already a wrapper for the Twofish library, so you can immediately encrypt/decrypt messages between two Whisper clients.
